There are pieces that store, and pieces that stage. The Chandigarh 1 Shelf belongs firmly to the latter — conceived not as storage but as spatial architecture. A study in disciplined asymmetry, its solid-void geometry creates rhythm through restraint, behaving more like a sculptural grid carved from air than a conventional bookcase.

We designed it as an ode to architectural purity — bold yet non-theatrical, modernist but with meditative clarity. Every recess feels purposeful, intentional, and calm — allowing objects to be placed not as décor, but as punctuation. It doesn’t decorate a wall, it defines it — commanding presence without demanding noise.
Thank you Architectural Digest (AD) for featuring the Chandigarh 1 Shelf in your October 2016 Discover edit — a recognition of design that functions less like furniture, and more like constructed silence.
